This module tracks samples throughout the laboratory, documenting an internal chain of custody
from sample receipt to sample disposal. Sample bar code labels are scanned each time the
sample moves from one department to another. This module also manages and controls both
sample analysis batching and preparation batching.
Criteria are established in the LIMS determining which samples can be batched together based on matrix, analytical method, preparation method, and regulatory program area. These criteria cannot be overridden by an analyst. Additional critical batching information includes client analytical due date and sample holding time expiration date and time.
